Project Development Manager - Solar PV

Our client is looking for a highly qualified and motivated Photovoltaic (PV) Project Developer to lead the land acquisition team and the environmental and socio-economic aspects of the development of solar PV projects in Spain (a professional in charge of ensuring that projects comply with sustainability regulations and standards, as well as with the socio-economic criteria required by the administrations). This role is key to the success of our renewable energy initiatives, with a focus on identifying and acquiring optimal land for our projects.

As a leader of the land acquisition team, you will be responsible for site identification, landowner negotiations while working closely with local communities, regulatory authorities and environmental consultants to ensure that projects meet the required legal, environmental and social standards.

Responsibilities

Land Acquisition:

• Lead the identification and evaluation of potential sites for photovoltaic projects.
• Managing and coordinating relations with landowners, negotiating and securing land lease agreements.
• Oversee due diligence on land, including review of land titles, environmental zoning analysis and urban feasibility, in collaboration with the grid connection manager.
• Collaborate with legal teams to draft and formalise contracts and agreements.

Environmental Management

• Site feasibility
• Coordinate, evaluation of environmental impact assessment (EIA),
• ensuring the environmental viability of the projects and compliance with the resolutions
• Working with environmental consultants to generate reports or documentation required in the permitting of projects.

Socio-economic Development

• Lead community engagement efforts, building positive relationships with local communities and addressing concerns related to project impacts.
• Develop and implement strategies to maximise the socio-economic benefits of the projects, as well as the criteria required by the administrations, in terms of job creation and local and regional economic impact, etc.

Project Coordination

• Work closely with internal and external teams (engineering, legal, finance and permitting) to ensure smooth progress from project development to construction.
• Manage timelines and deliverables related to land acquisition, environmental and socio-economic aspects of the project.
• Keeping up to date on regulatory changes and industry trends, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure compliance and project competitiveness.

Stakeholder Management

• Engaging with local, regional and national government agencies to secure permits, licenses, and authorizations.
• Representing the company in public meetings, forums and consultations related to the development of the project.
• Maintaining positive relationships with investors, partners and other key stakeholders.

Required

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Land Management, Urban Planning or related field.
• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in land acquisition and development of large-scale solar PV or renewable energy projects in Spain.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and socio-economic development in the context of utility-scale renewable energy generation projects.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage complex, multidimensional projects.
• Good level of English. Other regional languages would be an asset.
